Spending some time at ground level in Sri Lanka gets to the pace of life and to the colour that abounds in the people and the landscape.  Literally plonking oneself on the rich earth in the middle of a track, a tea plantation or a cinnamon grove provided me with a perspective to capture local people and activities of everyday life. One of the abiding scenes at some time before 7am are the fishermen at Talalla, just west of Tangale where a position on the haul of the lines entitles a proportion of the catch. So all sorts turn up and grab the lines for about half an hour slowly pulling in a large net across the bay and eventually up onto the sand where the catch is divided up.
