Welcome to East Street Studios
2024 saw the refurbishment and opening of the studio rooms. I moved into the first floor with my sanitised art clobber of forty years and it just about fits. My drawing and painting commences right away.
The ground floor remains free as a space for any number of activities and I await approaches to see if the simple well lit room with street frontage appeals. We had a cracking start with an exhibition of Beatrice Forshall’s colourful etchings made for her book (published by Bloomsbury) call The book of Vanishing Species. We were mesmerised by Bea’s talk on the private view evening as she took us through the process of engaging with these increasingly rare species and her deep understanding and worry of the effect of these plants and animals declining before us.
As an accomplished artist in her own right the book brings together numerous etching and lovely words that are born out of fact and her natural ability to convey the world in which we live.

In this contemplative mood I am looking at any interesting ideas for the space from short term exhibitions, working space, makers with a shop front or simply a studio for a group or individual.
A place for creative work and display. I welcome enquiries form those who may require space for short or long term periods.
Nicely in the heart of the town close to the well frequented No57 cafe (with antiques) and other creative interesting shops such as Andrassy Living and The Hambridge Artist.

The place is not open all the time in these early days and so make contact first.
